Difference Between Chlamydia And Bv

Gonorrhea Versus Urinary Tract Infection

New STI Guidelines: Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, and Pelvic Inflammatory Disease

A urinary tract infection is inflammation of the urethra and bladder that can lead to a kidney infection if left untreated.

Symptoms such as frequent urination, a burning sensation while urinating, urgent urination, and lower abdominal pain can also be signs and symptoms of gonorrhea.

To differentiate between two conditions, itâs important to analyze signs and symptoms in the right context. In this case, that means considering the following:

  • The gender of the patient
  • What preceded the event
  • When symptoms first appeared
  • How the disease has been evolving over time

Itâs important to distinguish between these two conditions because unlike a UTI , gonorrhea need to be diagnosed and treated because otherwise it can cause irreversible reproductive system damage .

Key Difference Trichomoniasis Vs Bv

Trichomoniasis and bacterial vaginosis are two commonly misdiagnosed conditions that have a similar clinical presentation. Trichomoniasis is a sexually transmitted disease caused by a flagellated protozoon named Trichomonas vaginalis. An organism named Gardnerella vaginalis causes bacterial vaginosis which is characterized by an offensive vaginal discharge. Although trichomoniasis is considered as a sexually transmitted disease, bacterial vaginosis is not included in that category because its causative agents are not known to spread the disease through sexual contact. This is the key difference between trichomoniasis and BV.

Can Vaginitis Go Away Untreated

It isnt a good idea to wait for vaginitis to disappear unless you know whats causing it. For instance, some mild yeast infections go away on their own, but not all cases do. Bacterial vaginosis usually clears up on its own, but left untreated, it can put you more at risk for STIs. It can also cause complications if youre pregnant. The symptoms from viral vaginitis may resolve on their own, but in the meantime, your provider needs to know about any STIs you have so they can monitor any cell changes. Some kinds of high-risk HPV can lead to cervical cancer.

Speak with your healthcare provider to determine whats causing your vaginitis, and follow their guidance about what treatments are best.
