How Accurate Is The Cvs Instant Hiv Test
The saliva HIV tests like the one by OraQuick are very accurate and detect approximately 91.7% of HIV positive patients. Its important to note that HIV can take up to 7 weeks after exposure before returning positive on a saliva swab. But OraQuick recommends taking the test three months after a risk event for the most accurate results. Examples of risk events include:
- Sexual intercourse with multiple partners
- Sexual intercourse with someone who is or may be HIV positive
- Using injected drugs or steroids
- Sharing a needle or syringe with someone else
If you test within the first three months after a risk event, your results may not be accurate. Its best to take another test after three months has passed since the risk event occurred.
OraQuick recommends getting additional testing if you test positive using one of these at-home HIV test kits. This means you should follow up with your healthcare provider to retest and confirm your results.

If you have a fever, make sure you get plenty of rest. Be sure to drink a lot of water to help you stay hydrated since youll likely lose a lot of fluids due to excessive sweating. Ice chips are also helping when youre trying to reduce a fever. Over-the-counter medication like ibuprofen or acetaminophen may also help to reduce a fever. Always make sure that you take the proper recommended dosage and dont mix different fever-reducing medications together. Try to stay cool and remove excess blankets and layers of clothing. If you get cold, you can always cover back up. Turn an overhead ceiling fan or lower the temperature in your home to help lower your core body temperature. If youre able, take a lukewarm bath and follow it with a cold ice compression or washcloth soaked in cool water. Dont take ice baths or extremely cold baths since this can be dangerous. If your fever persists, your body temperature is 104 or higher, or you dont feel better after 24 hours and the fever is still high, talk to a doctor right away.

Why Should You Consider Testing With An At
The main perk of at home STD tests is convenience. Users do not have to schedule an appointment or even leave their house to collect their samples and get their results. Most companies offer quick turnaround times, including shipping the kits to customers, and getting them their lab results, so this is an ideal solution for anyone looking to know their status quickly.
Because these tests are completed in the privacy of ones own home, they are also discreet. Test kits usually come in unmarked packaging, and customers do not need to worry about discussing potentially uncomfortable or embarrassing information with their regular doctor.

What Is The Treatment For Chlamydia
Chlamydia can be easily cured with antibiotics. HIV-positive persons with chlamydia should receive the same treatment as those who are HIV-negative.
Persons with chlamydia should abstain from sexual activity for 7 days after single dose antibiotics or until completion of a 7-day course of antibiotics, to prevent spreading the infection to partners. It is important to take all of the medication prescribed to cure chlamydia. Medication for chlamydia should not be shared with anyone. Although medication will stop the infection, it will not repair any permanent damage done by the disease. If a persons symptoms continue for more than a few days after receiving treatment, he or she should return to a health care provider to be reevaluated.
Repeat infection with chlamydia is common. Women whose sex partners have not been appropriately treated are at high risk for re-infection. Having multiple chlamydial infections increases a womans risk of serious reproductive health complications, including pelvic inflammatory disease and ectopic pregnancy. Women and men with chlamydia should be retested about three months after treatment of an initial infection, regardless of whether they believe that their sex partners were successfully treated.
Infants infected with chlamydia may develop ophthalmia neonatorum and/or pneumonia. Chlamydial infection in infants can be treated with antibiotics.

An oral antibiotic is to be made available for treating chlamydia without prescription for the first time.
The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency last week approved proposals to make the generic drug azithromycin available over-the-counter in pharmacists. The ruling applies to only one brand of the drug, made by Actavis UK and who will market it under the name Clamelle.
The oral antibiotic will be available to people 16 years and over if they have tested positive for chlamydia infection and have no symptoms, and for their sexual partners. Actavis is working with the National Pharmacy Association on training materials for pharmacists and a Clamelle-branded chlamydia testing kit.
Todays move means that symptomfree people diagnosed with Chlamydia and their partner will be able to get convenient effective treatment from their local pharmacy, she said.
